InVision Studio for VoiceXML Development

Audience

This course is intended for programmers new to the Intervoice Development Studio - InVision Studio tool who will be responsible for creating and/or supporting a VoiceXML speech project. The course is not vendor-specific and applies to both the Nuance OpenSpeech Recognizer and Nuance 8.x speech recognition systems.

Description

This five-day course is intended for programmers responsible for implementing InVision projects. The course material covers single-item speech collection and error processing, GRXML grammar creation using Grammar Builder, basics of VoiceXML, use of JavaScript files, Java Server pages for testing, Intervoice Media Server 3.6 with the Control Center  software. The class will complete one touch tone, one speech recognition application as a group and then each student will complete an individual speech application from a completed design.

Prerequisites

  • Familiarity with IVR Systems.
  • One year programming experience in web applications (html, asp, aspx, java, etc.).
  • Review of the document, Getting Started with InVision Studio.
  • It is recommended that students involved with speech recognition complete the Voice User Interface Design course.

Objectives

  • Identify the key components of the Intervoice VoiceXML environment.
  • Use Control Center to route applications to the Media Server 3.6.
  • Describe the startup procedure for the Media Server.
  • Create and execute simple VoiceXML touch tone and speech projects using InVision Studio.
  • Utilize text-to-speech and pre-recorded ISAY messages.
  • Discuss programming of speech universals and shortcuts.
  • Implement single item collection with the Speech Item form.
  • Describe default and inline error processing.
  • Create .grxml format grammars.
  • Utilize JavaScript functions.
  • Test applications using Voice Over IP (VOIP).
