Personal Information Manager (PIM)
A key element in the usability and power of Media Exchange is the Personal Information Manager (PIM). PIM contains two main elements: the address book and the calendar. Both of these features can be accessed through either telephone or web interactions and provide a secure location for critical subscriber contacts and appointments.
Address Book
Media Exchange enables three kinds of address books: Personal Address Book, Shared Address Book and Corporate Address Book.
- Personal Address Books (PAB) are owned and maintained by individual subscribers. The PAB can hold up to 5 telephone numbers for each entry; Home, Office, Mobile, Other and Fax. Each entry can also hold multiple email address.
- A Shared Address Book is an address book that can be used at the discretion of the system administrator. It can be used for common addresses such as retail businesses or restaurants.
- A shared address book can also be assigned as a Corporate Address Book for use with large enterprises. As the service provider, you would be provided with a web interface where you can maintain the Shared Address Book.
In addition, Media Exchange PAB is compatible with the Standard Address Book Format, so your subscribers can import or export address book files from the web to their PC, and from their PC to the web.
Calendar
Media Exchange Calendar is a personal and collaborative calendar and event manager, designed for professionals, individuals,
and communities. It is a highly robust calendar solution with a suite of powerful features:
- Sharing Mode. Sharing Mode allows third parties to view certain zones of a subscriber's calendar and request appointments. Calendar sharing can be used to schedule meetings, communicate availability, or promote events for an organization.
- Event Management. Media Exchange Calendar is specialized in event management, and is rich in functionality. Single events and series of events may be exported in VCS or CSV format.
- Customization. The Calendar interface and environment may be entirely customized to meet individual needs and tastes with a few clicks of the mouse, including time zones, sharing modes, and viewing size.
- Task Management. Subscribers get proactive task management through Calendar's To Do list. The To Do list gives subscribers the ability to send themselves email reminders for certain tasks, along with priorities and status tracking.
- Data Import and Export. Media Exchange Calendar Import and Export options allow subscribers to share data with their Palm Pilot, Microsoft Outlook, or any other vCal compatible system.
